of EAAP to Animal Science |
DOWNLOADABLE FILE
EAAP is the international federation
of animal science for Europe and the Mediterranean area. It
represents the professional interests of scientists, academics,
professionals and producers, technicians, extension officers,
government departments and farmer organizations. The main goals of
EAAP are:
 |
To promote the generation of knowledge in animal science
and production by activities such as lobbying for increased funding
of animal science research, coordinating projects related to animal
science, influencing the animal science research agenda of the main
European funders of research and organizing training of young animal
scientists.
|
 |
To facilitate the dissemination of knowledge in animal
science and production by activities such as organizing meetings,
conferences, seminars, workshops etc, publishing an animal science
journal, a newsletter and various other publications related to
animals, maintaining websites and supporting the attendance of early
career animal scientists at science events.
|
 |
To represent the broad
views of the European Animal Science community by responding to
important topical issues in animal science by issuing statements /
press releases, placing leading articles, editorials and views in
publications and websites, lobbying as appropriate and answering
requests for views, information etc.
|
 |
To facilitate and support the
operation of other similar organizations such as WAAP, the World
Association for Animal Production and ICAR, the International
Committee for Animal Recording.
|
 |
To meet needs of member organizations
and individuals for services related to animal science and
production that EAAP has some advantages in providing over others.
In meeting these goals EAAP has particular regard to improve the
technical and economic conditions of the livestock sector, to
promote the welfare of farm animals, to conserve the rural
environment, to optimize the use of natural resources particularly
animal genetic resources and to encourage the entry of young people
into careers in animal science and production at all levels.
