EAAP visit in Uzbekistan
On September 7th and 8th, the International Conference on Food Security took place, aiming to assess the global food security situation, with a particular emphasis on Central Asia. The conference sought to deliberate on the primary challenges within agrifood systems that impede progress toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2. The event, organized jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the local Ministry of Agriculture, featured discussions on the status of measures designed to realize the “Zero Hunger” objective outlined in SDG 2. These discussions encompassed specific tasks aimed at eradicating hunger, improving food security, and advancing sustainable agriculture. During the conference, the President and Secretary General of EAAP had the opportunity to engage with Uzbekistan authorities and representatives of the animal science network, who had recently joined EAAP as a new member country. Furthermore, bilateral meetings were held between EAAP and representatives of countries potentially interested in joining EAAP, including Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Russia, and Tajikistan. The primary objective of these meetings was to underscore the significance of joining EAAP for their respective national animal science networks.
